I’m Louise, a figurative artist based in Leeds, UK. 

I’ve been incurably creative ever since I was a kid; drawing pictures and writing stories when I probably should have been doing my homework. I've always been drawn to myths and folk tales; stories of people who are larger than life, and this sense of wonder worms its way into my art more often than not. I have plans for some big paintings once I get back into a studio space!

I went to my first life drawing class in 2023, and knew immediately that I was where I was meant to be. I realised that I wanted to create art that cherishes the human body in all its shapes and forms. The delight of finding so much beauty in people’s bodies has stayed with me, and I bring this sense of awe and warmth to my art and life drawing sessions. The classes at Art School Ilkley have been absolutely pivotal in my artistic life. Sarah and John Gamble are the kind of teachers everyone wishes they had from the start, and I'm so lucky I found my way into their studio. I now run life drawing sessions of my own; once a month in Ilkley at the gorgeous Friends of Ham. (They’re a great little bar! Go pop in for a drink if you’re in the area.)
